10.02.2026

On 5 February 2026, the new premises of the Polish Institute in Stockholm were officially inaugurated by the Secretary of State at the Polish Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Marcin Bosacki. The Minister expressed his hope that the Institute would become "a hub of Polish-Swedish creativity and artistic exchange.” He also emphasised the close and continuously developing relations between Poland and Sweden, based on a shared sense of responsibility for Europe's security, particularly in the Baltic Sea region.

Present at the inauguration, Secretary of State at the Swedish Ministry of Culture, Ms. Karin Svanborg-Sjövall, highlighted the importance of cultural cooperation and people-to-people contacts between Poland and Sweden as strategic partners.

The Polish Institute in Stockholm was established over 50 years ago as one of the first institutions of its kind. The new premises are located in a 1912 building in the prestigious Lärkstaden district of Östermalm. Its interiors were renovated by the Polish company GN Knit and furnished with contemporary Polish design - including furniture and lighting from well-known Polish brands - and decorated with a collection of Bolesławiec pottery.

The ceremony featured a performance by the Polish jazz quartet Blu/Bry, and refreshments inspired by Polish cuisine were prepared by the Swedish café Rosendals Trädgård, including cebularz (onion flatbread), potato babka, paczki (Polish doughnuts), and wines from Polish vineyards.
