In Stockholm, Marshal Małgorzata Kidawa-Błońska met with the Speaker of the Riksdag, Mr. Andreas Norlén. Their discussions focused on intensifying cooperation between Poland and Sweden, particularly at the parliamentary level. Both sides emphasised the importance of mutual dialogue in strengthening security in the Baltic Sea region, supporting Ukraine, shaping the future of the European Union, and deepening transatlantic ties.

During her visit, Marshal Kidawa-Błońska also met with representatives of the Polish diaspora in Sweden. Mrs. Kidawa-Błońska expressed appreciation for the involvement of Poles living in Sweden in preserving Polish culture, language, and national identity as well as highlighted the active participation of the Polish community in Swedish social and professional life.

A key point of the program was a visit to the Katarzyna Jagiellonka Polish School at the Polish Embassy in Stockholm. The Marshal met with students, school leadership, teachers, and members of the Parents’ Council, emphasising the importance of education and intercultural dialogue in building understanding between nations.

As part of the visit, the Marshal of the Senate also laid a wreath at the Haga Norra cemetery in Solna, where, among others, January Uprising insurgent Józef Demontowicz (minister in Władysław Grabski’s government), Stanisław Thugutt, and actress and prima donna Elna Gistedt-Kiltynowicz (who saved 34 children from the Zamość region during World War II) are buried.
