Participation of Representatives of the Embassy of the Republic of Poland in Almedalen Week 2026

From 22-26 June 2026, representatives of the Embassy of the Republic of Poland participated in Almedalen Week in Visby - one of the leading public policy and political dialogue platforms in the Nordic region. This year's edition brought together approximately 42,000 participants and featured more than 3,150 events organised by around 1,900 stakeholders from across Swedish public administration, business, academia, and civil society.
The Ambassador of the Republic of Poland to Sweden, Karolina Ostrzyniewska, took part in a panel discussion organised by the Stockholm Environment Institute entitled “Security and Cooperation in the Baltic Sea – How Marine Data Can Strengthen Both Defence and Society”, representing the Polish Presidency of the Council of the Baltic Sea States. The discussion focused on the protection of critical infrastructure, strengthening energy resilience, and the growing importance of marine data in enhancing security across the Baltic Sea region. Other speakers included the Chief of the Swedish Navy, Johan Norlén, and the Director General of the Swedish Coast Guard, Lena Lindgren Schelin.
Ambassador Ostrzyniewska also participated in a discussion hosted by the Municipality of Lund on the role of the Baltic Sea in NATO and the European Union. The exchange addressed growing military activity in the region and the importance of further strengthening cooperation between Poland and Sweden. Participants included representatives of the Municipality of Lund and Mats Wicksell, Head of Saab’s business area.
Almedalen Week also provided an opportunity for bilateral meetings and working-level exchanges with representatives of the Swedish government, armed forces and public administration, European Union institutions, as well as members of the business and media communities.
