Study visit of the Greater Poland delegation to Sweden
23.06.2025
The study visit of the delegation from the Self-Government of the Greater Poland Voivodeship and the Regional Centre for Social Policy in Poznań began with a meeting at the Embassy of the Republic of Poland in Stockholm. The aim of the visit was to exchange experiences and strengthen Polish-Swedish cooperation in the area of senior policy. The delegation was led by Ms. Katarzyna Kretkowska, a member of the Board of the Greater Poland Voivodeship.
Mr. Niclas Jacobson, Deputy Director General for European and International Affairs at the Swedish Ministry of Health and Social Affairs, presented the support system for elderly people at the national, regional, and municipal levels. He also described the challenges in this area and current programs and initiatives.
Representatives of Polish diaspora organizations—Ms. Maja Bergendorf from the Association of Polish Women and Mr. Janusz Górczyński from Polska Kongressen—discussed the role of diaspora organizations in the social life of elderly people of Polish origin.
The program of the study visit also included meetings at, among others, the Polish-Swedish Senior Centre, the Swedish Dementia Centre, and the Stockholm City Hall. Participants also visited a senior housing estate managed by Svenska Bostäder—a good example of modern solutions supporting older people.
We are happy that representatives of the local government have become involved in implementing the strategic partnership between Poland and Sweden.
