Visit of Anders Hall, State Secretary for Migration at the Ministry of Justice of the Kingdom of Sweden, to Poland
03.09.2025
The Swedish minister visited Poland on 26-27 August this year. Together with the Undersecretary of State at the Ministry of Interior and Administration, Maciej Duszczyk, he visited the Border Guard Post in Połowce. The visit was preceded by working-level consultations between the ministers in Warsaw, devoted to migration and asylum policy, including the fight against the instrumentalisation of migration. The Polish delegation also included Karolina Ostrzyniewska, Ambassador of the Republic of Poland to the Kingdom of Sweden, who took part in the visit.
The visit in Połowce was an opportunity to gain insight into the current situation along the Polish–Belarusian state border, which is simultaneously the eastern border of the EU, protected by the Podlasie Division of the Border Guard. The Polish side presented to the Swedish partners its operational tactics, the forces and resources employed, and shared its experience so far in protecting the state border against illegal migration from Belarus.
The ministers also went directly to the Polish–Belarusian borderline, where they were presented with the functioning of both the physical and electronic barriers in the field, along with new solutions for their reinforcement and modernisation. During the stay in Połowce, the delegations were accompanied by Brigadier General Sławomir Klekotka, Commander of the Podlasie Division of the Border Guard.
The visit of State Secretary Anders Hall to Poland was part of the implementation of the strategic partnership between Poland and Sweden, signed by the prime ministers of both countries on 28 November 2024 in Harpsund, Sweden. It also formed part of broader cooperation between Poland and the Nordic and Baltic countries in the area of migration policy.
