Ambassador Ostrzyniewska began her visit at Malmö City Hall at the invitation of the Chair of Malmö City Council, Ms Carina Nilsson. Their discussion focused on cooperation between Poland and the Skåne region and prospects for its further development. Matters concerning the local Polish community were also addressed.

At Malmö University, the Ambassador met with members of the university’s leadership, including Vice-Chancellor Mia Rönnmar, to discuss the university’s activities and opportunities to strengthen cooperation with Polish universities. The visit also provided an opportunity to meet Polish students.

The Ambassador also visited the Polish burial section at Östra Cemetery, where Polish nationals are laid to rest and the Polish National Memorial stands. The site commemorates, among others, Polish heroes, victims of the Second World War and former prisoners of German concentration camps.

The visit concluded with a screening of Ashes and Diamonds at Biograf Spegeln, organised by the Polish Institute as part of the Year of Andrzej Wajda. The Ambassador invited representatives of local Polish organisations to attend. The screening was followed by a reception, providing an opportunity to discuss their current activities, achievements to date and key challenges.
