Polish Ambassador to Sweden, Karolina Ostrzyniewska, highlighted the role of the Council of the Baltic Sea States as a platform connecting the countries of the region and outlined the main priorities of the Polish presidency, with particular emphasis on security issues.

The discussions focused on regional cooperation within the organization, current geopolitical challenges, and security and defense capacity development in the region. Transatlantic relations were also discussed, particularly in light of the recently published US national security strategy, as well as the role of the EU and NATO regarding the current international situation and the war in Ukraine.

Domestic political issues in Sweden were also addressed, with a focus on preparations for the 2026 parliamentary elections, including the country’s economic and financial prospects. The discussion covered possible coalition scenarios, organized crime prevention, climate policy, social integration, and the stability of migration policy.

“You are important for Sweden, and we need each other,” emphasized Magdalena Andersson, highlighting the importance of trust, partnership, and shared goals in the Baltic Sea region.
