Poland in US

On March 4-6, 2020, Undersecretary of State Paweł Jabłoński visited the United States. The visit focused on economic cooperation between Poland and the United States, as well as public and cultural diplomacy. During a ceremony at the Polish Consulate in New York, Deputy Minister Jabłoński presented Adrian Kubicki his nomination to the position of Polish Consul General.

Marshal of the Sejm Elżbieta Witek and Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi discussed regional security - particularly within the context of Russian aggression in Ukraine and the construction of the Nord Stream II gas pipeline - alongside representatives of the Lithuanian, Latvian and Estonian parliaments during the Marshal’s recent visit to the U.S. capital.

On February 26th in Washington, the Polish Government's Plenipotentiary for Strategic Energy Infrastructure Piotr Naimski and the Minister of Climate Michał Kurtyka took part in the third U.S.-Poland Strategic Dialogue on Energy at the U.S. Department of Energy under the leadership of the U.S. Secretary of Energy Dan Brouillette.

The Kennan Institute of the Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars, tasked with researching the Soviet Union and the post-Soviet region, organized a panel discussion on the 80th anniversary of the Katyn Massacre with Prof. Andrzej Nowak and Dr. Alexander Guryanov of the Memorial Group, in partnership with the Embassy of the Republic of Poland in Washington, D.C.

"Corpus Christi," Director Jan Komasa’s Oscar-nominated film that vied with some of the past year’s best foreign pictures, was screened at the Motion Picture Association’s DC headquarters.

The American Institute for Contemporary German Studies at Johns Hopkins University organized a panel discussion titled “Assessing 30 Years of Peaceful Revolution,” in which Polish Ambassador Piotr Wilczek and German Ambassador Emily Haber participated.

“I want to stress that protection of vulnerable groups remains among the priorities of Polish foreign policy. That is why Poland is fully committed to implementing measurable actions to ensure freedom of religion or belief,” said minister Jacek Czaputowicz. The top Polish diplomat took part in the launch of the International Religious Freedom Alliance at the invitation of the US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo.

We are pleased to announce that Poland will host the “Ministerial to Advance Religious Freedom” in Warsaw from July 14-16, 2020. The Ministerial will be organized in close cooperation with the United States, and include participation from countries from across the world.

Brian Ganz, one of the most celebrated Chopin interpreters in the United States, performed the works of Poland’s most famous composer for an audience of almost two thousand.

As part of the 75th anniversary of the liberation of the German Nazi Concentration and Extermination Camp Auschwitz-Birkenau, a commemorative event attended by survivors, Ambassador Emily Haber of Germany and representatives of Georgetown University was held at the Residence of the Ambassador of the Republic of Poland.
