Inauguration of the Foodex Japan fair

Today, Deputy Minister Adam Nowak attended the opening ceremony of the 51st edition of the Foodex Japan fair – the largest event of the food industry in Asia. The key element of the day was the official opening of the Polish national stand “Poland tastes Good”, organised by the National Support Centre for Agriculture (KOWR). This year, the Polish representation is exceptionally strong – 38 companies present their offer at the KOWR stand and in total, more than 50 Polish entrepreneurs take part in all pavilions (of the Polish Chamber of Commerce and the Association of Butchers and Producers of Processed Meat of the Republic of Poland; as well as the Polish Association of Fish Processors).

– Food export is a Polish specialty. Let me remind you that the export of Polish agri-food products already accounts for 15% of our total export, and the record result of EUR 58.4 billion achieved in 2025 confirms the highest quality standards of Polish products – emphasised Deputy Minister Nowak during the official inauguration of the Polish stand at the fair. The first day of the visit was also full of promotional meetings with Japanese importers and a visit to supermarkets so as to assess the sales potential of Polish products.

The MARD delegation also participated in the official opening ceremony of the European Union Pavilion. The numerous offer of Polish products at the EU stand stresses the position of Poland as one of the key producers of food in the EU.

The PCC conference

An important point of the programme was also the press conference of the Polish Chamber of Commerce (PCC) organised at the Polish Embassy in Tokyo. During his speech, the head of the Polish delegation indicated that the production and export of food were one of the essential areas of the Polish economy. He noted that Polish products were manufactured in line with the most rigorous European quality and safety standards, which allowed them to compete effectively on the most demanding markets in the world, such as the Japanese market.

It is worth mentioning that last year, the sale of agri-food products to Japan exceeded the level of EUR 80 million. This proves the increasing confidence of the Japanese market in our products – said the Deputy Minister and mentioned that the products enjoying the greatest popularity among Japanese consumers included, among others, beef, fish, juices, sweets as well as down and feathers. He also pointed out that Polish companies were reliable partners, who in business relations were guided by loyalty and mutual respect – values of key importance to Japanese business culture.

Minister Nowak also gave an interview to the Japan Food Journal presenting the most important information on the export potential of the Polish agri-food sector.

The most important events scheduled for the next days of the visit

The head of the Polish delegation will hold talks with all Polish suppliers and participate in business talks, which are to result in new contracts for the Polish agri-food sector.

In parallel to the fair events, the MARD delegation will implement an intense programme of meetings with representatives of the Japanese government administration – Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries (MAFF) and Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare (MHLW).
