The status of the partner country for the jubilee edition of the ALIMENTARIA 2026 fair in Barcelona strengthens the promotion of Polish food and increases the visibility of domestic producers at one of the most important industry events in Europe. Deputy Minister Adam Nowak attended in the event.

Talks about access to the Japanese market for Polish food, meetings with entrepreneurs and a visit to one of the most important agricultural research centres in Asia - these are the most important elements of the Deputy Minister Adam Nowak's visit to Japan. The delegation of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development also attended the Foodex Japan fair in Tokyo, supporting Polish food producers present there and promoting the export offer of the Polish agri-food sector.

Undersecretary of State Adam Nowak began a 4-day visit to Japan. The major events of the first day of his stay in Tokyo included: the official opening of the Foodex Japan 2026 fair and the inauguration of the Polish national stand. The objective of the visit is not only to support Polish entrepreneurs, but also to conduct strategic talks with the Japanese authorities on the wider opening of the local market to Polish food.

"The scale of the challenges currently facing agriculture and rural areas is unprecedented. Therefore, we need a strong, well-designed Common Agricultural Policy based on an adequate and stable budget. Its specific nature requires maintaining funding both for measures strictly related to agriculture and for rural development instruments. The current two-pillar structure of the CAP has proven highly effective and should be preserved,” said Minister Krajewski today during the opening session of the High-Level Conference in Brussels.

This year's Global Food Forum 2026 in Brussels brought together EU decision-makers, ministers of agriculture, Members of the European Parliament, industry leaders and representatives of farmers. Participants included Minister Stefan Krajewski, Annie Genevard, Minister of Agriculture and Food Sovereignty of France, and Francesco Lollobrigida, Minister of Agriculture, Food Sovereignty and Forestry of Italy.

The Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Stefan Krajewski met in Brussels with the European Union Commissioners. The talks focused on the financing of the Common Agricultural Policy post-2027 and measures aimed at increasing access of Polish agri-food products to third country markets, including the Brazilian market.

Simplifications of the Common Agricultural Policy as well as control and audit principles were among the major topics of the EU Agriculture and Fisheries Council (AGRIFISH) session in Brussels. Poland supported the wide-ranging initiative of the Member States on the CAP control system, indicating the need for a more proportionate and risk-based approach to audit.

The future of the Common Agricultural Policy and food security were the major topics of the meeting between the Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Stefan Krajewski and the Minister of Rural Affairs of the Kingdom of Sweden Peter Kullgren. The talks in Warsaw were held during the visit of the Swedish delegation to Poland, related to the Swedish Food Business Days event, and they become a part of the wider context of Polish-Swedish economic cooperation as well as the dialogue on the challenges facing European agriculture.

Prospects for deepening bilateral cooperation, with particular consideration given to the possibility of increasing trade, are the major topic of talks between the Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Stefan Krajewski and the Ambassador of Uzbekistan to Poland Amirsaid Agzamkhodjaev.

In the event of the entry into force of the EU-Mercosur agreement, the adopted provisions are intended to enable a faster response to threats to the EU agricultural market. The Regulation specifies the circumstances under which the European Commission may initiate safeguard proceedings in response to increased imports of agricultural products from Mercosur countries.
