The development of economic contacts and the presentation of the Polish food producers' offer were important elements of the three-day visit paid to Podlasie by the heads of diplomatic missions accredited to Poland. On 9-11 October, the representatives of the diplomatic corps learned about the activities of Podlasie enterprises, including the Mlekovita Dairy Cooperative, and the opportunities for cooperation with the Polish agri-food sector. The foreign guests were greeted in Białystok by Minister Stefan Krajewski.

– Polish agriculture is an important part of the Polish economy and our food security. Its strength is primarily people – farmers, who every day, often in demanding conditions, ensure that high-quality food is present on tables in Poland and in many foreign markets. We are proud of the potential of the Polish countryside, the quality of our products, the family nature of many farms, developing technologies and innovation – emphasised Minister Stefan Krajewski.

Polish food on global markets

Polish agri-food products go to nearly 200 countries and regions of the world. In 2025, the value of their export exceeded EUR 58 million and was by more than 9% higher than the year before. The further development of export depends, among others, on the opening of new markets and lifting trade barriers.

The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development is conducting talks with foreign partners regarding access of Polish products to their markets, including, among others, agreeing veterinary certificates and admitting subsequent establishments for export.

Podlasie – an important centre of the Polish dairy industry

The Polish dairy sector is one of the pillars of the domestic agri-food industry and Podlasie is one of its most important centres. Dairy cooperatives operating here use modern production technologies and their products are sent to customers in many countries.

– The Podlaskie Voivodeship is the heart and one of the key pillars of the Polish agri-food sector. This region has become known in Europe as the European Milky Valley. Here, natural wealth is combined with the highest production standards – emphasised Minister Stefan Krajewski.

On 11 October, Minister Stefan Krajewski and the heads of diplomatic missions visited the Mlekovita Dairy Cooperative in Wysokie Mazowieckie. During the visit, the foreign guests became familiar with the history and activities of the company, visited the production plant and learned about the processes of milk processing. They also had an opportunity to try the products of the cooperative and talk about the opportunities for economic cooperation.

Mlekovita is one of the largest dairy enterprises in Central and Eastern Europe and its products are sent to customers all over the world.

Foreign diplomats got to know Podlasie

The visit was organised by the Diplomatic Protocol of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs at the invitation of the authorities of the Podlaskie Voivodeship and the Mayor of Białystok.

The programme included presentations of products of several companies, meetings dedicated to the opportunities for economic cooperation and study visits. The representatives of the diplomatic corps also learned about the natural, cultural and culinary values of the region. They visited, among others, Kruszyniany and Supraśl, where the multicultural heritage of Podlasie and traditions of regional cuisine were presented.

– International cooperation acquires a special value when it leads to the direct learning of our experiences, capabilities and mutual needs. I believe that this visit will be an opportunity for talks, the exchange of experiences and a better understanding of one another – said Minister Stefan Krajewski during the inauguration of the visit.

Direct meetings with representatives of foreign countries allow Polish producers to present their offer and establish contacts that may help develop the export.
