Minister Stefan Krajewski: European agriculture ministers must speak with one voice. Discussion on long-term solutions for European agriculture
03.11.2025
Discussions on the Multiannual Financial Framework and the shape of the Common Agricultural Policy post-2027 were the major topics of the meeting with the Eastern European members of the European organisation Farm Europe, which was held on 4 November 2025 at the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development.
– Our meeting is an opportunity to discuss topics relevant to European farmers. The vast majority of the Ministers of Agriculture in Europe speak with one voice on a strong, two-pillar CAP and the resources allocated for this purpose. These are, naturally, preliminary discussions, but our joint point of view is our strength – said Minister Stefan Krajewski.
The Minister reminded that Polish farmers, thanks to the presence of Poland in the European Union, efficiently made use of the Common Agricultural Policy funds, among others. Thanks to this, despite the difficult geopolitical situation, Polish food security and food safety have not been disturbed.
The Minister also stressed that thanks to EU funds, farmers could run their farms taking into account environmental and climate measures.
– As early as today, we must think about future generations – take care of the environment in which they will live and work, respond to the challenges they will face. The problem of renewal on farms, the need to develop animal production and combine it with plant production – these are the difficulties we face today. Therefore, it is so important that the European Ministers of Agriculture speak with one voice and that we seek prospective and long-term solutions together – stressed Minister Krajewski.
During the meeting, the participants also stressed the need to financially strengthen Eastern European agriculture and pointed to the key importance of innovation. High competition, volatility of markets and consumer expectations mean that agriculture requires the continuous introduction of innovation.
The objective of the discussion was to develop a proposal of solutions that would allow European agriculture to create such an agricultural and food policy that would enable dynamic development of the potential of rural economies and competitive agriculture in Europe.
