The visit was also attended by the MPs Robert Telus, Alicja Łepkowska-Gołaś and Wiesław Różyński, as well as the Chief Inspector of Plant Health and Seed Inspection Magdalena Makowska and Deputy Chief Veterinary Officer Katarzyna Wawrzak.

In Cairo, the Secretary of State held a series of meetings with high-ranking representatives of the Egyptian authorities: Minister of Agriculture and Land Reclamation of Egypt Alaa Farouk, his deputy Mostafa El-Sayyad, and Minister of Supply and Internal Trade Sharif Farouk.

Talks on Polish-Egyptian cooperation

One of the key points of the visit was the talks with the deputy head of Mostakbal Misr (“The Future of Egypt”) – the agency responsible for ensuring Egypt’s food security, including wheat purchases. During the meeting, both parties confirmed their willingness to strengthen bilateral cooperation. They also discussed the prospects for increasing the export of Polish cereals to the Egyptian market in the context of diversifying the sources of supply of strategic food raw materials.

Egypt – one of the largest importers of wheat in the world – expressed interest in deepening cooperation with Poland in the field of trade in cereals. The talks also referred to the possibility of cooperation in the area of developing storage infrastructure for cereals. The representatives of Polish companies presented their offer in this regard and business talks are to be continued.

Development of export of Polish food to Egypt

The meetings with Egyptian partners were an opportunity to discuss the prospects for increasing the export of animal products, including poultry meat and beef, as well as other agri-food products from Poland to Egypt.

Deputy Minister Gromadzka expressed hope for a positive result of the audit of Polish poultry and beef plants and cold stores which was underway.

– In the face of global challenges related to food security, Poland is ready to remain a stable and predictable partner for Egypt, offering high-quality agri-food products and long-term cooperation based on mutual benefits – stressed the Secretary of State.

– Egypt is a key partner for Poland in the Middle East and Africa region. We see a significant potential for the further development of trade cooperation, particularly in the agri-food sector – said Deputy Minister Małgorzata Gromadzka during the meetings in Cairo. We should act here and now so as to fully tap the potential of mutual relations and provide entrepreneurs with optimal conditions for conducting trade – added the Deputy Minister.

Polish agri-food products will be presented at the Polish national stand during the Food Africa fair organised in Cairo on 7-10 December 2026.
