Poland and Morocco on strengthening cooperation in agriculture. A joint visit to the Polmlek Group establishment
18.09.2025
The opening of the Moroccan market to Polish products, scientific cooperation and the development of modern technologies in agriculture were the main topics of talks between Minister Stefan Krajewski and Minister Ahmed El Bouari. The visit of the Moroccan delegation to Poland was also an opportunity to present innovations - the Polmlek Group establishment showed the pioneering technology of production of lactoferrin.
Bilateral meetings and study visits provided an opportunity to present the advantages of Polish agriculture and food industry, and at the same time to discuss key areas of cooperation, such as the export of animal products, modern technologies in agriculture or staff training. The Parties stressed the importance of exchanging experiences that could contribute to the further development of economic and scientific relations. During the stay in Poland (15-16 September), the Moroccan delegation visited farms in the Podlaskie Voivodeship, feed factory, dairy and wholesale market, and also met with the authorities and lecturers from the Warsaw University of Life Sciences.
Talks at the MARD
On 16 September 2025, at the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, the Ministers discussed the possibilities of developing agricultural trade and cooperation in the area of animal breeding, modern irrigation techniques and training of specialists.
Minister Stefan Krajewski stressed that Morocco was a stable and important partner for Poland in the North Africa region. He expressed his hope for strengthening bilateral cooperation, both at the government, business and scientific-research levels. The head of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development welcomed the intensification of contacts between veterinary services of both countries and indicated that we were particularly interested in agreeing on the conditions for the export of products of animal origin, including poultry meat, from Poland to Morocco. At the same time, he informed that Poland, as an important food producer, was ready to expand its export offer to the Moroccan market.
– The Polish countryside is not only production of food, but also an increasingly stronger technological and scientific base. We want to share this potential and, at the same time, open new markets for our farmers and entrepreneurs – emphasised the head of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development.
Minister Krajewski also accepted an invitation to participate in the Siam fair – the largest agri-food event in Africa in April 2026. The national stand at this event will be organised by the National Support Centre for Agriculture.
Minister Ahmed El Bouari congratulated Minister Krajewski on taking office and wished him success. He thanked for the opportunity to visit Poland, stressing the openness to strengthening cooperation. The Minister pointed out that the Moroccan party was particularly interested in the issues of irrigation and water management in agriculture, the renewal of livestock and cooperation in the field of training of specialists for agriculture.
During the meeting in Warsaw, it was agreed to continue discussions on veterinary matters and develop the records of certificates. According to the Moroccan minister, for this purpose it would be beneficial to establish a Polish-Moroccan working group on cooperation in the field of veterinary medicine.
Moreover, Minister El Bouari proposed signing a memorandum of understanding, which would cover all areas in which Poland and Morocco would like to strengthen their cooperation.
Study visit and trade meetings
During the stay in Poland (15-16 September), the Moroccan delegation visited farms in the Podlaskie Voivodeship, feed factory, dairy and wholesale market, and also met with the authorities and lecturers from the Warsaw University of Life Sciences.
Visit to Polmlek and lactoferrin project
In Lidzbark Warmiński, the guests became familiar with the research and development project regarding the acquisition of ultravaluable proteins – lactoferrin and lactoperoxidase. Lactoferrin, referred to as “rose gold”, supports immunity and is used in pharmacy and functional food. The Polmlek Group, together with the University of Life Sciences in Poznań, has developed a technology for the production of lactoferrin with record-breaking purity – 98%.
Minister Stefan Krajewski indicated the close connection between the development of the agri-food industry and the work of farmers and producers.
– There would be no growth of these companies without our farmers. But there would be no progress in agriculture as well without companies like this that are reaching for what has seemed impossible until recently. This is an example of a combination of hard work, experience and scientific research – said the Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development.
In Polmlek, a research and development project concerning the acquisition of ultravaluable proteins – lactoferrin and lactoperoxidase was presented. Lactoferrin, referred to as “rose gold”, supports immunity, has antiviral and anti-inflammatory effects, and its use in pharmacy and functional food may be a breakthrough in the fight against lifestyle diseases.
The Polmlek Group, together with the University of Life Sciences in Poznań, has developed a technology for the production of lactoferrin with record-breaking purity – as much as 98%. In Lidzbark Warmiński, the first European production line for this protein is being constructed, which has an opportunity to introduce the Polish agri-food industry into new global markets.
– What we see today in Lidzbark is not an event on a local or regional scale. It is a project of European and global importance, showing that the Polish agri-food industry can be a leader in innovation – emphasised Minister Krajewski.
Another step in bilateral relations
The visit of the Moroccan delegation confirmed the great interest in the development of cooperation in the field of agriculture and food industry. The parties declared their willingness to continue talks on increasing trade and scientific and technical cooperation.
