The meeting was organised on the initiative of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development and is part of the activities aimed at intensifying relations in the agricultural sector and expanding the availability of Polish products on the Qatari market. The talks were also attended by Mr Tomasz Ciodyk, Deputy Director General of the National Support Centre for Agriculture (KOWR).

Intensification of agricultural cooperation with Qatar

Secretary of State Jacek Czerniak stressed that the Polish party perceived Qatar as an important and prospective partner in the Middle East region. He expressed his hope for further deepening of bilateral cooperation in agricultural matters and readiness to increase the export of Polish agri-food commodities to the Qatari market.

The Deputy Minister indicated the necessity to quickly agree veterinary access documents for Polish products of animal origin. He also suggested strengthening scientific and expert cooperation by means of establishing contacts with research institutes supervised by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development. He also encouraged the Qatari party to cooperate with the National Support Centre for Agriculture as a government agency supporting trade contacts between entrepreneurs of both countries.

Support for cooperation between entrepreneurs

Deputy Director General of KOWR Tomasz Ciodyk presented the Centre’s activities for supporting the export of Polish agri-food products on foreign markets, discussed the organisation of Polish national stands at international fairs as well as of economic missions. He also pointed to the possibility for Polish breeding companies to establish cooperation with Qatar, particularly in the area of animal breeding.

Position of the Qatari party

Ambassador Saoud bin Abdullah Zaid Al-Mahmoud summarised the activities undertaken in recent years to strengthen bilateral economic relations. He stressed that the Qatari party saw a great potential for development of cooperation with Poland in the agricultural sector, including in the field of importing food.

The Ambassador also expressed his interest in using Polish experience in implementing the “green city” project in Doha. He also welcomed cooperation in the field of education, including the functioning exchange of students between Poland and Qatar.

Trade in agri-food commodities

In the period from January to October 2025, the value of the Polish export of agri-food commodities to Qatar exceeded EUR 14.3 million. The major export products included meat and edible poultry offal, as well as cheese and curd, bakery products, sugar syrups and tea.
