23.03.2026
The status of the partner country for the jubilee edition of the ALIMENTARIA 2026 fair in Barcelona strengthens the promotion of Polish food and increases the visibility of domestic producers at one of the most important industry events in Europe. Deputy Minister Adam Nowak attended in the event.
– Polish food is now recognisable on foreign markets thanks to its high quality, safety of production and growing innovation. For our producers, the fair such as ALIMENTARIA is a specific tool for developing the export and building permanent trade relations – stressed Deputy Minister Adam Nowak.
Poland at the heart of the event
The 50th jubilee edition of the ALIMENTARIA fair brought together producers, distributors and representatives of the catering industry from all over the world in Barcelona. This year, Poland acts as a partner country, which translates into the special visibility of our offer and the stronger presence on the international market.
One of the most important moments was the visit of His Majesty King Felipe VI at the Polish national stand. The opening of the fair was also attended by the Spanish Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food, Luis Planas.
Polish stand and companies
The Polish national stand, prepared by the National Support Centre for Agriculture, is one of the largest joint presentations of the domestic food sector abroad. 29 companies present their offer on the area of 270 m².
It is a cross-section of the whole industry – from dairy and meat producers, through fish and processed products, to sweets and modern functional food.
– Polish producers are better and better combining tradition with modernity. They offer high-quality products, while responding to changing consumer expectations – from functional food to specialist products – indicated the Deputy Minister.
Presence on foreign markets is a driving force of export
The agri-food sector remains one of the pillars of the Polish economy. In 2025, the export reached the value of EUR 58.4 million, increasing by 8.5% year-on-year. About 75% of products sold go to the European Union markets.
One of the more important destinations is Spain. In 2025, the value of export of Polish agri-food products to that market increased to nearly EUR 2 billion, i.e. almost 10% more than the year before.
– Polish food is increasingly winning over consumers with its quality and reliability – today, these are the key arguments on foreign markets – highlighted the Deputy Minister.
Trade fairs mean relationships and contracts
The ALIMENTARIA fair is not only a place for presenting the offer, but firs of all a space for business meetings and talks about cooperation. It is here that decisions are made about entering new markets and developing sales.
During his visit to Barcelona, Deputy Minister Adam Nowak met with the representatives of Polish companies and attended the accompanying events.
– Trade fairs such as the ALIMENTARIA fair are mainly meetings that translate into specific business decisions. We want Polish companies to make the best use of these opportunities – said the Deputy Minister.
Wide offer and presence of the industry
At the fair, the wide range of Polish food is presented – from traditional products to modern and specialised ones. The presence of the sector is also strengthened by industry organisations, including the National Poultry Council and the Association of Butchers and Producers of Processed Meat of the Republic of Poland.
