Poland strengthens its presence in Central Asia. Minister Stefan Krajewski has started his visit to Uzbekistan

26.11.2025

Poland is developing cooperation in the Central Asia region. Today, Minister Stefan Krajewski began a visit to Tashkent so as to strengthen agricultural cooperation with Uzbekistan, including the participation in the first meeting of the joint working group. The talks focus mainly on expanding access to the Uzbek market for Polish agri-food products and developing expert, phytosanitary and trade cooperation.

Main

The visit is part of the MARD’s activities aimed at expanding international cooperation and supporting the expansion of Polish exporters.

Minister Stefan Krajewski announces that until Friday the MARD delegation in Tashkent will be conducting intense diplomatic and working activities whose objective is to open the Uzbek market to other Polish exporters.

Access to the market and audits of Polish establishments

During the meeting, key issues related to opening the Uzbek market to Polish goods of animal origin are discussed. Poland summarises the existing audit of beef establishments and declares its readiness to conduct audits of further sectors, including the poultry industry. The talks also include phytosanitary cooperation and the exchange of scientific knowledge.

– For us, Uzbekistan is a market with great potential and the development of agricultural cooperation will bring benefits to producers on both sides – stressed Minister Krajewski.

Dynamic development of trade

Trade between Poland and Uzbekistan is clearly growing. In the period from January to August 2025, the export of Polish agri-food products to Uzbekistan exceeded EUR 34 million. The most important commodity groups include chocolate products containing cocoa, processed and frozen vegetables, animal feed and food, as well as food concentrates and fresh fruit – mainly apples and pears.

Moreover, Uzbekistan remains one of the most important customers of Polish food in the Central Asia region. In 2024, the value of agri-food export from Poland to that country amounted to EUR 72 million.

Of growing importance is also the import from Uzbekistan to Poland, including, among others, nuts, dried fruit, vegetable products, vegetable raw materials and assorted confectionery products. Strengthening of cooperation is conducive to the further diversification of trade.

Part of a broader strategy of cooperation with the region

The visit to Tashkent is an important stage in building sustainable agricultural relations with the countries of Central Asia, a region with growing economic and food potential. The talks conducted by Minister Stefan Krajewski strengthen Poland’s position as a partner actively developing cooperation in the area of agriculture and food security.
