Polish-Uzbek agreements: we eliminate export barriers for Polish producers

28.11.2028

Elimination of barriers to trade, intensification of bilateral economic cooperation and support for Polish exporters of the agri-food sector - these are the major subjects of talks between the Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Stefan Krajewski and the Uzbek authorities during a visit to Tashkent, which was held on 26-27 November 2025.

Main

The visit to Uzbekistan is another step of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development towards empowering Polish food producers on the Central Asian markets.

Progress in the arrangements regarding the export of Polish food to Uzbekistan

The main point of the visit was the participation of the MARD delegation in the inaugural meeting of the Polish-Uzbek joint working group on cooperation in the field of agriculture. The talks were focused on supporting trade in agri-food products. The meeting was chaired by Minister Stefan Krajewski and Minister of Agriculture of Uzbekistan Ibrokhim Abdurakhmonov. The head of the Polish Ministry of Agriculture was also accompanied by the Chief Veterinary Officer Paweł Meyer, the General Director of the National Support Centre for Agriculture Henryk Józef Smolarz and the President of the National Food Industry Group S.A. Leszek Świętochowski.

The first meeting of the group resulted in specific decisions on the elimination of export barriers for Polish producers, among others:

  • it was agreed to carry out an inspection of Polish poultry and fish sector establishments in 2026;
  • the Uzbek party confirmed that by the end of this year it will submit a report on the Uzbek audit of beef sector entities, carried out in September 2025.

In addition, the parties agreed on:

  • the possibility of exporting poultry offal to Uzbekistan based on a valid certificate for poultry meat;
  • the lack of need for the Uzbek veterinary service to approve Polish establishments acting as intermediaries in trade in food of animal origin;
  • possibility for Poland to resume shipping milk and whey powder to Uzbekistan.

Minister Stefan Krajewski also talked with the Deputy Prime Minister of Uzbekistan Jamshid Khodjayev on the potential of Polish-Uzbek cooperation in the field of agriculture.

Support for Polish entrepreneurs

An important point of the MARD delegation’s visit to Tashkent were the talks with the representatives of business communities from Poland and Uzbekistan, including a meeting at the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Uzbekistan. It was an opportunity to present the Polish export offer and establish contacts with potential importers of Polish food.

The Ministers of Agriculture of Poland and Uzbekistan also visited the stand of the Polish Investment and Trade Agency at the AgroExpo Uzbekistan fair.

In parallel with the visit of Minister Stefan Krajewski to Tashkent, the National Support Centre for Agriculture organised a trade mission to Uzbekistan, which was attended by 9 agri-food companies representing the meat, fruit and confectionery sectors.

Trade in agri-food products with Uzbekistan

Central Asia remains one of the most promising destinations of diversification of outlet markets for Polish agricultural producers. In 2024, we sold mainly chocolate and other cocoa-containing food products, meat and poultry offal to Uzbekistan. According to data for the period I-VIII 2025, the value of agri-food export to Uzbekistan amounted to EUR 34.1 million, and the most important goods were chocolate and pet food.
