The largest trade fair for the fish industry in the world
Seafood Expo Global and Seafood Processing Global will be held from 21 to 23 April 2026 at the Fira Barcelona Gran Via exhibition centre. The fair is attended by importers, exporters, processors, retail chains, restaurateurs and technology suppliers from all over the world.
This year’s edition is the largest in the history of the event – it covers more than 52 thousand m² of exhibition space, brings together about 2,300 exhibitors and 65 national and regional stands from 86 countries. The programme is complemented by an industry conference with more than 20 sessions devoted to, among others, sustainable production, technological innovation, consumer trends and the development of international trade.
Polish national stand
The Polish national stand, organised by the Polish Association of Fish Processors, was under the patronage of the Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Stefan Krajewski. The opening of the stand was attended by the Secretary of State Jacek Czerniak.
– Today, Poland is one of the most important players on the European map of fish processing. We are the EU leader in the production of, among others, smoked salmon and our plants are among the most modern ones in the world. The Polish industry is a combination of tradition and modern technologies, which allows us to compete efficiently on foreign markets – emphasised the Secretary of State Jacek Czerniak.
At the stand, companies representing the domestic fish processing sector present their offer, including, among others: Abramczyk, Contimax, Seko, Thai Union Poland, Mik-Food, EVRA Fish and High Seas Fish Producers Organisation.
The stand is used to promote products, conduct business talks and establish new business contacts.
Export and importance of the sector
In 2025, the Polish agri-food export reached the value of EUR 58.4 billion and was by 8.5% higher than the year before. Fish and fish products accounted for about 4.5% of this value, i.e. EUR 2.64 billion.
The largest share in the export is held by frozen fish as well as dried and smoked products – they account for about 90% of the value of foreign sales of this commodity group. The main destination remains the European Union markets (about 85% of export).
Spain is one of Poland’s most important trading partners – in 2025, the export of agri-food products to this market reached nearly EUR 2 billion. For fish and fish products, sales amounted to EUR 18.3 million.
Awards and accolades
As part of the fair, the Seafood Excellence Global Awards are awarded for the best products presented during the event.
In 2026, the finalist of the competition in the category of retail products was the Polish company Resko Sp. z o.o. for the product “Greenland Handpeeled Shrimp” in the Clean Label Seafood line.
– This accolade confirms that Polish companies not only effectively compete on foreign markets but also set the directions of development in terms of quality and innovation of products – highlighted the Deputy Minister.
