Visit to Kazakhstan: another step toward increasing the export opportunities of the Polish agri-food sector

13.11.2025

Talks about the potential of Polish-Kazakh cooperation in agricultural matters and the opening of the Polish national stand at the FoodExpo Qazaqstan fair are the main elements of the visit of Secretary of State Jacek Czerniak to Kazakhstan. It is also another step towards increasing the export opportunities for Polish entrepreneurs in the agri-food sector.

Main

Strengthening bilateral cooperation with Kazakhstan

During the meeting with the Deputy Minister of Agriculture of Kazakhstan Amangali Berdalin, the Secretary of State Jacek Czerniak pointed out, among others, the priority issues for us which include the elimination of restrictions imposed by the Kazakh authorities on goods of animal origin from Poland.

Deputy Minister Czerniak stressed that Poland was waiting for the lifting of the ban on the transit of poultry and poultry products. Paweł Meyer, the Chief Veterinary Officer present at the meeting, reminded that Polish goods of animal origin passed in transit through Kazakhstan were completely safe.

Poland proposed to organise a meeting of veterinary services of both countries so as to discuss technical aspects of the currently applicable restrictions and to provide all information.

– We hope that such a meeting will contribute to the quick elimination of restrictions on goods of animal origin from Poland – stressed Deputy Minister Czerniak.

The talks also referred to the planned inspection of agri-food sector plants interested in exporting to the Kazakh market.

The Deputy Head of the Kazakh Ministry of Agriculture, Mr. Berdalin, confirmed his interest in increasing mutual trade in agri-food products. He stressed that the issue of the possibility of lifting the Kazakh restrictions on the import or transit of selected goods from Poland would be analysed in detail. He also thanked for the existing cooperation and full transparency as regards providing up-to-date information about the epizootic status in Poland.

Support for Polish entrepreneurs and exporters of the agri-food industry

The visit to Kazakhstan was also an opportunity for the Secretary of State Jacek Czerniak to meet the Polish exhibitors at the national stand of the National Support Centre for Agriculture (KOWR) during the FoodExpo fair in Almaty. In this year’s edition of the fair, 16 agri-food companies from Poland were present at the KOWR stand. These companies represent a very wide range of products, among others, dairy, poultry, sweets, fruit and vegetables, seeds and condiments.

Polish-Kazakh trade

According to data from the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, between January and August 2025 we exported agri-food products worth EUR 73.8 million to Kazakhstan. These were mostly apples and pears (EUR 21.1 million) and processed vegetables, mainly potatoes (EUR 14.2 million).
