CENTRE FOR EAST EUROPEAN STUDIES announces an Open Call for Two - year master's programme

CENTRE FOR EAST EUROPEAN STUDIES – UNIVERISТY OF WARSAW announces the 23th annual recruitment for the Eastern Studies scholarships for the candidates from Eastern Europe, the Balkans, the Caucasus and Central Asia.

Scholarships will bе devoted to the completion of the two-year master’s programme of the Eastern Studies at the University of Warsaw in the period from 1.X.2023 to 30.V.2025. In the years 2000-2018, the Centre for East European Studies hosted about 500 cholarship holders of this programme from over 25 countries.

The study programme is divided into 5 specializations:
а) Russia
b) Eastern Europe
с) Central Europe
d) The Balkans
e) The Caucasus and Central Asia

REQUIREMENTS

1. For a scholarship can apply persons with a bachelor’s, master’s, engineer or equivalent
diploma.
2. AGE up to 35 years.
3. General knowledge of the issues of Eastern Europe, Central Europe, Russia, Central Asia
and the Caucasus, especially the 20th century and contemporary issues, especially after
the Second World War, and especially after 1991.
4. POSITIVE result of written general knowledge test (range of issues according to point
3) and interview.
5. KNOWLEDGE of Polish language as well as English and Russian language at а level
allowing understanding of lectures and the use of literature.

Two-year МА studies, in six specializations, prepare well-educated specialists of the “Eastern affairs”. SPECIALIST EASTERN STUDIES were solemnly inaugurated in 1998 bу the Prime Minister of Poland, Jerzy Buzek. The Centre also offers postgraduate EASTERN STUDIES, ВА EASTERN STUDIES and EASTERN STUDIES IN UKRAINE, conducted according with the Centre’s program.

The Centre is also а co-organizer of other Scholarship Programs, Schools and Awards, including: К. Kalinowski Scholarship Program of the Polish Government, Lane Кirkland Scholarship Program.
Scholarship Program for Young Academics sponsored bу the Government of the Republic of Poland, Leo Sapieha Award, lvan Wyhovski Award, Eastern European Summer School, Eastern European Winter School and Warsaw East European Conference.
ln addition, there are two abroad station of the Centre – Caucasian in Tbilisi and Ukrainian in Кiev.
