Mr. Marek Ciesielczuk

Consul General Marek Ciesielczuk

Mr. Marek Ciesielczuk has been working at the Polish Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) since 1993, and has since held positions at every level both at the MFA Headquarters - from a clerk in the Consular Department to the director of the Consular Department - and abroad - from vice-consul to consul general.

From 1996 to 2000 he served as a first secretary at the Polish Embassy in Tel Aviv (Israel). From 2002 to 2006 he headed the Personal Movement Unit at the Consulate General of the Republic of Poland in NYC (USA), where he was responsible for visa, passport and citizenship issues. On his return to the MFA headquarters, he was promoted to the Head of the Consular Care Unit in the Consular Department, where, among other things, he was responsible for the coordination of assistance to Polish citizens abroad in crisis situations. He then served as Consul General of Poland in Toronto from 2008 to 2012. Upon his return from Canada, he served as the Director of the Consular Department for almost three years. From 2015 to 2018, he was the Consul General of Poland in Barcelona (Spain) and later held the position of Consul General of Poland in Shanghai (China) from 2018 to 2022.

From February 2023 to January 2024, he served as a chief specialist in the Office for Foreigners in Warsaw, where he was dealing with migration and asylum issues. Immediately prior to his departure for Toronto, he worked as minister plenipotentiary at the Department of Americas of MFA, where he was responsible, among other things, for bilateral and multilateral relations with the USA. Mr. Marek Ciesielczuk has been performing his duties as the Consul General of the Republic of Poland in Toronto since January 20th, 2025. He speaks English, Arabic, Spanish and Russian. 

He is married, with two adult children.
