PIM MSWiA as a beneficiary of REACT-EU Competition - Nearly PLN 20 Million Grant for Access to Modern Treatment in Post-Pandemic Conditions

On Friday, June 30th, the results of the REACT-EU competition supporting the Recovery and Resilience of the Health System, Infrastructure and Environment were announced at the Mazovian Voivodeship Office.

The ceremony, where symbolic cheques were presented to hospital directors, was attended by Małgorzata Gosiewska, the Deputy Speaker of the Sejm of the Republic of Poland; Marcin Martyniak, the Undersecretary of State of the Ministry of Health; Błażej Poboży, the Undersecretary of State of the Ministry of the Interior and Administration; and Tobiasz Bocheński, the Mazovian Governor.

Błażej Poboży, the Undersecretary of State of the Ministry of the Interior and Administration, along with Professor Waldemar Wierzba, MD, PhD – the Director of the National Institute of Medicine of the Ministry of the Interior and Administration (PIM MSWiA), and Krzysztof Płaciszewski – the Deputy Director of Organizing of the National Institute of Medicine of the Ministry of the Interior and Administration (PIM MSWiA), were present during the ceremony where cheques were handed over to the directors of the winning medical facilities.

"I am grateful for the assistance. We utilize any funds we receive to the best of our ability. Yesterday, we announced the release of the first-ever COVID-19 disease severity test, which was developed using grant funds obtained through a similar process. Additionally, we have recently applied for five patents related to diagnostics," said Professor Waldemar Wierzba, MD, PhD.

The three Warsaw hospitals received a total of PLN 68.3 million from the EU's REACT-EU Operational Programme Infrastructure and Environment initiative aiming to support the Recovery and Resilience of the Health System.

The Infrastructure and Environment Programme finances infrastructure projects of national or international significance. Eligible entities for support include local government units, enterprises pursuing public objectives, public administration, public services other than administration, healthcare institutions, cultural, scientific, and educational institutions, large, small, and medium-sized enterprises, social organizations, and religious associations.
