Conference: "The Three Seas Initiative – connecting Europe, connecting regions"

On 14 September, the Embassy of the Republic of Poland in Copenhagen in partnership with the Polish state development bank BGK, organized a conference “The Three Seas Initiative - connecting Europe, connecting regions” in Copenhagen. The aim of the event was to provide insight into priorities of the Three Seas Initiative and discuss investment opportunities stemming from the Three Seas Initiative Investment Fund. Three Seas Initiative (3SI) promotes interconnectivity of infrastructure in the energy, transport and digital sectors on the north-south axis in full synergy with the EU strategic agenda and Next Generation ЕU. It brings together 12 countries located between the Baltic, Black, and Adriatic seas – Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary, Slovenia, Austria, Croatia, Romania and Bulgaria.

3SI

The genesis of the Three Seas Initiative, the region's potential, the principles of cooperation within the format, the possibilities and benefits of investing in the Three Seas Investment Fund in connection with the needs in the development of infrastructure connections in the transport, energy and digital sectors were presented by Paweł Jabłoński, Undersecretary of State in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Poland, in his opening speech.

In the first panel, Tina Krce, Ambassador of Croatia to Denmark, Ole Toft, Ambassador of Denmark to Poland, Beata Daszyńska-Muzyczka, president of BGK and Gints Jegermanis Director of the European Policy Department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Latvia discussed the idea of ​​establishing the Three Seas Initiative, the investment needs in the region and the investment potential for Danish partners. The Danish Ambassador presented the Danish perspective on the Initiative and emphasized that 3SI is followed by Denmark with interest and could arouse the interest of Danish investors, especially in the area of ​​energy and digitization. The President of BGK presented the idea of ​​the Three Seas Investment Fund (3 SIIF), emphasizing that it is an entity operating on a commercial basis, investing in the business-justified projects and offering an attractive rate of return to the investors. She emphasized that private investors may invest in the Fund.

The second part of the event focused on the investment opportunities for Danish business and the projects implemented by the 3 SIIF. Joe Philipsz from Amber Infrastructure Group, which advises the Fund presented the investments made in the region to date

About 60 participants took part in the event, including representatives of the diplomatic corps, Danish administration and business.
