The Embassy of the Republic of Poland and the Consular Department will be closed on April 6,7 and 10, 2023.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs has launched a contest for the best foreign-language publication promoting Poland’s history and the best Polish-language publication on the history of Polish diplomacy released in 2022. Authors are invited to submit their books by 1 June 2023.

British historian Roger Moorhouse gave a lecture on the 1939 September campaign to the participants of the Historiske Dage history festival, which was held on March 18-19 in Copenhagen.

Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki met with Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen in Copenhagen on 23 February. During the talks, bilateral topics were discussed, as well as issues related to European security and support for Ukraine.

World War II started on September 1, 1939. The Third Reich, unprovoked and without any notice, started their invasion of Poland. One of the first acts of war involved the gunfire oriented at Polish ammunition warehouse at Westerplatte. The “Schleswig-Holstein” battleship that had arrived in Gdansk with an allegedly peaceful visit opened fire at the Polish soldiers.
