Poland in Denmark

On 17-19 May a jazz festival that brought together musicians from Poland and Denmark was held in Copenhagen.

Ny Polsk Film Festival has been opened by the screening of the film “Silent Land” directed by Polish director Aga Woszczyńska.

Documentary films by Kuba Witek depicting Polish-Greenlandic and Faroese-Polish relations were presented on 10 and 11 May in Copenhagen.

The cities and harbours of Elbląg and Vordingborg signed a letter of intent on the maritime cooperation.

On May 5, 1945, a barge with prisoners of the German concentration camp Stutthof arrived at the port of Klintholm on the Danish island of Møn. On the 77th anniversary, a ceremony was held in the port of Klintholm to commemorate the events.

On the occasion of the liberation of Denmark from German occupation, on 4 May in Odense Defense Attaché, Colonel A. Sypniewski honored the memory of Fallen Allied Airmen and the victims of the II WW.

Almost one year ago, as Poland marked the 230th anniversary of the adoption of the Constitution of 3 May, Warsaw was visited by the presidents of Ukraine, Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania. Besides neighbourly bonds, our countries share common values, culture, history and present-day challenges.

This year, Polish Heritage Days (Polske Kulturarvsdage) are celebrated in Denmark for the first time. The idea of the initiative is to promote and celebrate Polish culture, the heritage of past generations and Polish contribution to cultural, economic and social life in Denmark. Polish Heritage Days are organised and run under the patronage of the Polish Embassy in Copenhagen.
