Poland in Denmark

There is a popular saying in modern Polish: “to defend something like independence.” It means taking a clear and determined stance for some idea or value. Where does the expression come from?

On 6 November, Chargé d’affaires a.i. Mateusz Mońko, Consul RP Małgorzata Dąbecka, Defence Attaché Col. Andrzej Sypniewski, the Danish Veterans, members of the diplomatic corps and the Polish Diaspora paid tribute at Mindelunden to those who lost their lives fighting for the freedom and independence of both Poland and Denmark.

As the world is slowly recovering from the COVID-19 pandemic, it is entering an era of uncertainty. Faced with new threats and challenges, we need a fresh perspective on geopolitical realities. It is the strength of national economies that will ultimately ensure citizens’ security.

On 12 October 2021 at the Royal Library in Copenhagen, Jack Fairweather, the author of the book "The Volunteer. The true story of Witold Pilecki's secret mission” presented the history of the Polish resistance hero Witold Pilecki.

The judgement of the Constitutional Tribunal of the Republic of Poland of 7 October reaffirmed the hierarchy of the sources of law binding in Poland and in the European Union. The first place in this hierarchy is always reserved for national constitutions of EU member states. EU treaties, as acts of international law, have priority over domestic law of a statutory rank, but they cannot precede constitutions.
