The Ministers discussed the measures taken by the EU and its particular member states to support developing countries in fighting the COVID-19 pandemic, such as providing the latter with access to vaccines and strengthening their health care systems. They also talked about the role of the European Union in a multilateral health architecture, especially within the WHO.

“Solidarity and international cooperation are essential in combating COVID-19. Poland readily shares its resources with the countries in need: so far we have either transferred or resold on a not-for-profit basis 27 million doses of vaccine to 25 countries worldwide, including in Africa, Asia, and Eastern and Southern Europe,” emphasised Deputy Minister Jabłoński. He also pointed out that Poland assumed a coordinating role in the EU’s Team Europe Initiative designed to transfer vaccines to the Eastern Partnership countries.

Before the conference, Poland’s deputy foreign minister took part in a briefing organised by French Foreign Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian and concerning President Emmanuel Macron’s visit to Moscow and Kyiv.
