Those attacks, condemned also by the UN Security Council, threaten not only freedom of navigation and free flow of goods, but also delivery of humanitarian assistance to the region.

We support all international efforts aimed at restoring maritime security and freedom of navigation in this strategic maritime corridor in accordance with international law. In this context, we welcome in particular the launching of EU Operation EUNAVFOR ASPIDES which operates in the Red Sea as of February 19th.
