Minister Jacek Czaputowicz visited the Principality of Liechtenstein

Bilateral cooperation, recent EU issues and current international agenda were the key points of the meeting of the Polish diplomacy chief Jacek Czaputowicz and the Principality of Liechtenstein Foreign Minister Katrin Eggenberger in Vaduz.

“We welcome the development of relations between Poland and the Principality of Liechtenstein. We see the potential for its furthering, particularly in the economic, social and cultural areas,” said the chief of Polish diplomacy.

While discussing current EU agenda, particularly in the context of Brexit,  Minister Czaputowicz noted the need to support EU’s ambitious relations with Great Britain while considering other countries’ rights and obligations in their relations with the European Union.

In a conversation with Minister Eggenberger, Polish foreign minister also brought up Polish membership of the UN Security Council. According to Minister Czaputowicz, Polish top achievements of the time were the strengthening of international law, protection of civilians and prevention of conflicts.

Speaking of the goals of Polish membership of the Human Rights Council, Minister Czaputowicz set our top priorities: supporting freedom of religion or belief, respect for and protection of human rights and the rights of religious minorities and most vulnerable groups such as children and people with disabilities as well as making more intense efforts to strengthen the principles of democracy and good governance.

As part of his visit to Liechtenstein, Minister Czaputowicz also met with the heir to the throne Prince Alois and shared his views on current relations between the two countries. He also congratulated his interlocutor on the 300 years of statehood of the Principality of Liechtenstein.

While in Vaduz, the chief of Polish MFA also met with Stefan Wolf and handed him the nomination for Honorary Consul of the Republic of Poland. He also thanked the newly-appointed consul for his willingness to develop Poland–Liechtenstein relations, particularly in their economic aspect.

It was the first visit of a Polish foreign minister to Liechtenstein since 2011.
