In his address, the head of Polish diplomacy stressed the importance and ever-growing role of the Asia-Pacific countries in Poland’s foreign policy and pointed out the threats and challenges faced by Europe and Asia in the current geopolitical situation. Minister Radosław Sikorski underlined that today’s regional conflicts have a global significance, as demonstrated by Russia’s aggression against Ukraine. The economic impact of the war can be felt across the world. The international community, which has been the beneficiary of the rules-based order for decades, should counter attempts to change these rules by exerting pressure to stop Russia’s aggression.

Speaking on behalf of the corps, Malaysian Ambassador Chitra Devi V. Ramiah stressed the need to harness the economic and political potential in Poland’s relations with countries in the Asia-Pacific region. She noted Poland’s growing activity on the international arena and declared that the region’s countries remain open to identifying new areas of cooperation and seeking common ground in our positions on the most pressing global issues.

The meeting provided an opportunity to introduce the heads of missions of Asia-Pacific countries to Poland’s foreign policy priorities and prospects for the development of bilateral relations. Minister Sikorski highlighted that Poland’s assumption of the presidency of the Council of the EU in 2025 will foster cooperation between our country and the region.
