More Poles and people of Polish descent evacuated from Ukraine

02.03.2022

170 people left Lviv in four coaches. The transport took place on 2 March through efforts of the Consulate General of the Republic of Poland in Lviv and the headquarters of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The group of evacuees included 30 Poles and 63 holders of the Pole’s Card. Also transported to Poland were 21 Ukrainian children, who – assisted by carers – came over for treatment, as well as five blind people with carers. With them, a convoy of 14 vehicles that crossed the Polish border carried journalists and personnel of the French and the US diplomatic missions.

The evacuation was preceded by an action of reporting intent to go to Poland via the MFA’s helpline and by registering in the Odyseusz system. The whole group reached our country safely. As it plans to organise further transports, the MFA encourages Poles and holders of the Pole’s Card to report the need for assistance in leaving Lviv. Such reports will greatly facilitate the organisation process. To report the need for assistance in leaving Lviv, send an email to info.ukraina@msz.gov.pl

Besides helping Poles to return home from Ukraine, the Consulate General of the Republic of Poland in Lviv has been providing extensive humanitarian aid to people queueing at border crossings.
