The year 2022 will also see the continuation of subsequent stages of projects which received public funding in last year’s competition. One of the largest and most strategic project is the extension of the House of Polish Culture in Vilnius – the most important institution for the Polish community in the Vilnius region. Last year, despite the COVID-related restrictions, four storeys of the building were successfully erected and windows were put in. This year, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs intends to allocate PLN 27,025,000 to further expand the building. The total budget of the investment exceeds PLN 48m. The reconstruction works in Polish houses in Vendryně (the Czech Republic), the Dolní Líštná part of Třinec (the Czech Republic), Glasgow (Great Britain), and the Polish Eagle Club in Nottingham (Great Britain) will also be continued.

In 2022, a total of over PLN 41m will be spent by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on the purchase or renovation of properties necessary to carry out activities and integrate representatives of Polish national minorities, enabling them to discover and cultivate the Polish culture, and learn the Polish language.

It needs to be highlighted that this competition is one of the key activities of the Minister of Foreign Affairs undertaken to the benefit of the Polish community and Poles around the world. The grants allocated as a result of the competition constitute a substantial support to Polish organisations in acquiring and renovating properties they use to ensure that their statutory objectives are achieved and day-to-day activities are carried out.

Since taking over the responsibility for financing the infrastructure of the Polish community abroad (years 2020-2022), the MFA has provided public funding for 91 projects of the total value amounting to PLN 86m.
