Secretary of State Arkadiusz Mularczyk meets Deputy Secretary of State at Swiss MFA Patric Franzen

During a meeting on 19 September 2023, the two diplomats discussed Polish-Swiss political and economic cooperation, impact of the Swiss contribution on the development of local and regional cooperation, and Switzerland’s relations with the EU and NATO.

The officials also talked about helping Ukraine. As a neutral country, Switzerland supports Ukraine in the by providing humanitarian aid and participating in planning its post-war reconstruction. Deputy Minister Arkadiusz Mularczyk underlined the scale of assistance provided by Poland and Polish society to our eastern neighbour since the launch of Russia’s full-scale aggression against Ukraine. The parties agreed on the need to further support Ukraine and punish Russia’s war crimes.

The talks also covered security architecture in Europe and the threats posed by Russia and Belarus in this area. Deputy Minister Mularczyk stressed that the two countries have been using illegal migrants at the Polish-Belarusian border to wage a hybrid war.

Also discussed was the Polish-Swiss cooperation at the UN, including mutual support and Switzerland’s activity as a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council.
