Poland in the EU

During an informal video conference ministers of justice discussed the impact of the COVID-19 crisis on justice and exchanged experiences on combating hate speech and disinformation. Poland was represented by Undersecretary of State at the Ministry of Justice, Marcin Romanowski.

As part of the inauguration of the Polish Presidency of the Visegrad Group, a friendly football match took place on 3 July in Brussels, in which the ambassadors and diplomats of the Visegrad Group (V4) and the team of Denmark, Sweden, the Netherlands and Austria, as well as guest ambassadors of Greece and Estonia, played.

The European Neighborhood Policy, the Eastern Partnership and the enlargement policy were the most important topics of the talks between the head of Polish diplomacy and EU Commissioner for Neighbourhood and Enlargement. The meeting was attended by the Permanent Representative of Poland to the EU Andrzej Sadoś.

The Eastern Partnership, the European Neighborhood Policy and the Western Balkans are the main topics of discussion of the Minister for European Union Konrad Szymański with the EU Commissioner for Neighborhood and Enlargement Oliver Varhelyi. The meeting was attended by the Permanent Representative of Poland to the EU Andrzej Sadoś.

A symbolic ceremony of handing over the presidency of the Visegrad Group to Poland was held in the Permanent Representation of the Republic of Poland to the EU. Ambassador Andrzej Sadoś delivered his welcome remarks outlining the role and importance of the Group in shaping the European Union and presented the main priorities of the Polish Presidency for the coming year.

The main topic of the meeting of EU leaders was the recovery fund that responded to the crisis caused by the COVID-19 pandemic and the proposal of the multiannual financial framework for 2021-2027. Poland was represented by Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki.

Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki took part in a video conference of the heads of state and government of the European Union and the Eastern Partnership. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the previously scheduled Eastern Partnership summit was postponed until 2021.

The exchange of views on the next multiannual financial framework (MFF) and the recovery plan were the main topics of the meeting of ministers for European affairs. Poland was represented by Minister Konrad Szymański.

Minister Jacek Czaputowicz took part in the informal discussion of EU foreign ministers with the participation of Secretary of State Mike Pompeo. The topics of the meeting included the impact of the Covid-19 on international relations, the state of relations with China, the Middle East peace process, and the EU’s eastern neighbourhood.

EU ministers held a policy debate on the role of cohesion policy in the economic recovery after the COVID-19 pandemic.
