Poland in the EU

The virtual meeting of European Union and Eastern Partnership ministers of foreign affairs was the preparation of a meeting of the heads of state and government, planned for June 18. Poland was represented by Minister Jacek Czaputowicz. Permanent Representative of the Republic of Poland to the EU Andrzej Sadoś participated in the meeting in Brussels.

Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki together with the leaders of Denmark, Spain, Germany, France and Belgium in a letter to the President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen have called for a closer European cooperation in order to ensure better preparedness for future health pandemics.

Trade ministers discussed relevant matters linked to the World Trade Organization (WTO) and the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic on EU trade and trade policy.

Ministers held an exchange of views on the Farm to Fork strategy and the Biodiversity strategy, which were recently adopted by the European Commission. Poland was represented by the Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Mr Jan Krzysztof Ardanowski.

The implementation of the package of activities under Team Europe was the main topic of the informal discussion of EU ministers responsible for development policy. Poland was represented by Deputy Minister Paweł Jabłoński.

During an informal video conference, ministers exchanged views with the European Commission on the Europe's recovery after the COVID-19 crisis. Poland was represented by the Minister of Finance Tadeusz Kościński.

The EU's interior ministers held a discussion on the coordinated lifting of restrictions on free movement and control at the internal borders of the European Union. Poland was represented by Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs and Administration Bartosz Grodecki.

Poland supports its neighbours again in their fight against the COVID-19 pandemic. Over 40 trucks sets off to Belarus, carrying in total 300 tonnes of protective equipment and supplies.

Ministers held an exchange of views about the next steps in addressing the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the sport sector in the short, mid and long-term. The aim of the discussion was to contribute to the recovery of the sector and to build resilience in view of unpredictable future developments. Poland was represented by Minister Danuta Dmowska-Andrzejuk.

The main topic of discussion of EU foreign ministers was the relations between the European Union and China, including the preparation of the EU-China summit scheduled for June. Poland was represented by the Minister of Foreign Affairs Jacek Czaputowicz.
