Poland in the EU

Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki and the head of the Hungarian government, Viktor Orbán, signed a declaration in Budapest in which they agreed on their positions on linking the payment of EU funds to the violations of the rule of law.

The main topic of the meeting of EU leaders including Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki was the coordinated response to the Covid-19 pandemic.

The situation in Belarus, the outcome of the elections in the United States and the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict were the main topics of the videoconference of foreign ministers with the participation of the head of Polish diplomacy, Zbigniew Rau.

Deputy Prime Minister Jarosław Gowin represented Poland during the video conference focusing on the internal market and industry. EU ministers held a political debate on how to make the most of the recovery plan to achieve a more dynamic, resilient and competitive European industry.

The developments regarding the EU budget, preparations for the next meeting of heads of state and government, the annual rule of law dialogue and the EU enlargement process were the main topics of the videoconference of ministers responsible for the European issues. Poland was represented by the Minister for European Union Affairs, Konrad Szymański.

102 years ago, on 11 November 1918, Poland regained independence. The memory of this historic day remains a source of inspiration to act for the good of the Motherland to this day. Regardless of the current circumstances, the Permanent Representation of the Republic of Poland to the EU is trying to express pride in our country and its history in the most solemn way possible.

EU heads of state and government held a discussion on the collective effort to fight the pandemic. Poland was represented by Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki.

European climate law and the Biodiversity Strategy for 2030 were the main topics of the Environment Council, bringing the EU27 climate ministers for a meeting in Luxembourg.

The Council reached three important agreements for Europe's agriculture and fisheries sectors during the two-day Council. Ministers agreed a general approach on the common agriculture policy (CAP) reform package, adopted conclusions on the farm to fork strategy and decided the fishing opportunities in the Baltic Sea for 2021. Poland was represented by the Minister for Agriculture and Rural Development Grzegorz Puda.

Future relations with the United Kingdom, issues related to climate neutrality and the current epidemiological situation were the main topics of the European Council meeting. On behalf of Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki, who is in quarantine, Poland was represented by the head of the Czech government Andrej Babisz.
