The situation in the labour market in Poland is very good. At the end of June, the estimated registered unemployment rate stood at 4.9%. Such low unemployment was last recorded 32 years ago. Citizens of Ukraine who came to Poland in connection with the war in their country fill in the gaps in some industries. Nearly 300 thousand people have already found work under the simplified procedure.

– From the very beginning of the war in Ukraine, we have been supporting our neighbours, we want them to be able to achieve independence as soon as possible and to feel at home in Poland. One of the most important issues here is work and the possibility of supporting themselves and their families. That is why we simplified employment procedures, that is why we are constantly developing support tools in the labour market of our eastern neighbours – says the Minister of Family and Social Policy, Marlena Maląg.

Pracawpolsce.gov.pl is already active

As Minister Maląg points out, „together with the Digital Affairs of the Chancellery of the Prime Minister, we created a new portal for citizens of Ukraine looking for work. It is Pracawpolsce.gov.pl.”

– The portal makes it easier to establish contacts between employers and job seekers. Thanks to this new solution, every citizen of Ukraine looking for work can share information about their educational background and skills. As a result, they will receive feedback on job offers that may be of their interest, as well as contact details of potential employers – explains the Head of the Ministry of Family.

Work in the profession

Janusz Cieszyński, Secretary of State for Digital Affairs at the Chancellery of the Prime Minister, pointed out that the portal is free of charge and is already available.

– We want all people who are looking for work for the duration of their stay in Poland to have an opportunity to find work in their profession, in accordance with their qualifications. (...) We want as many people as possible to use this portal – he said during a press conference at the Chancellery of the Prime Minister.

The portal is another solution that simplifies and improves the process of finding employment. It also supplements the assistance provided to citizens of Ukraine by labour offices.

Amendment to the Act on assistance to citizens of Ukraine

At the beginning of July, President Andrzej Duda signed an amendment to the Act on assistance to citizens of Ukraine in connection with the armed conflict in the territory of that state. It is mainly about making the labour market more flexible, greater opportunities to use Polish language courses, as well as creation of pre-school points for children from Ukraine.
