Youth activation

The youth are a part of family. Therefore, the Ministry of the Family provides young people with support and care if necessary.

In particular, the actions taken by the Ministry of Family, Labour and Social Policy focus on young people at risk of social exclusion for various reasons. The Ministry of Family supervises Voluntary Labour Corps which aid young people on their way to independent life and work.

VLCs are state institutions whose mission is to provide support to young people at risk of marginalisation in the areas of education, upbringing and social integration and to prepare the youth to perform social and professional roles.

Young people gain education as well social and professional competences necessary for adult and responsible life in each of the several hundred VLC units situated across the country. Young people aged 15-25 receive comprehensive teaching and pedagogical assistance, including free boarding school care.

VLCs provide care to thirty thousand young people, who are trained in over sixty professions, while preparing them to enter the labour market as effectively as possible. In order to achieve that goal, VLCs cooperate with employers, carries out projects co-financed by the European Union and implements international exchange programmes.
