Decrease in unemployment in June. Poland among the EU countries with the lowest unemployment rates

In June 2026, the number of registered unemployed and the registered unemployment rate both fell compared with May. Poland remains one of the European Union countries with the lowest unemployment rates.
At the end of June 2026, 901,500 unemployed people were registered with job centres. This was 14,400, or 1.6%, fewer than a month earlier. The registered unemployment rate stood at 5.8% and was 0.1 percentage points lower than in May.
In June, 98,100 people were removed from the register at job centres – 37.8% more than a year earlier. 59,900 unemployed people found work, representing a 25.2% increase year-on-year. In addition, 12,300 people began participating in active labour market schemes, and 34,900 job vacancies were reported to job centres.
Poland has one of the lowest unemployment rates in the EU
According to Eurostat’s definition, in May 2026 the unemployment rate in Poland stood at 3.1%, compared with an EU average of 5.9%. Poland ranked joint third with Cyprus amongst the EU countries with the lowest unemployment rates. Only Bulgaria and the Czech Republic recorded lower unemployment rates, at 2.9% each.
