Family policy and supporting the families with small children lie at the heart of the Polish government. This favourable period has begun with introduction of the “Family 500 plus” programme. Easter meeting of Minister Marlena Maląg and the ministry’s management with the families

Minister Marlena Maląg and Deputy Ministers Stanisław Szwed, Paweł Wdówik, Anita Czerwińska, Barbara Socha and Chair of the Family Council Dorota Bojemska invited the families with children to the Easter meeting hosted in the Ministry of Family and Social Policy building.

During the event, Minister Maląg summarised the governmental support in the area of family policy.

Family is the future, investment in the years to come and improvement of human capital.

The family, family policy and supporting the families with small children lie at the heart of the Polish government. We have commenced building the good time for the Polish families – said Minister Marlena Maląg. She added that the good time for the families started on 1 April 2016 with the introduction of the “Family 500+" programme.

Minister Marlena Maląg noted that the 500+ programme was followed by another ones – “Mum 4 plus”, “Good Start” and the Family Care Capital.

Polish families have already received nearly 4 billion Polish Zlotys under the Family Care Capital. This is the investment in future rather than cost for the state budget – she emphasized.

The Minister added that the recent amendments to the Labour Code facilitating the work-life balance are beneficial to the family life.

Reaching towards the expectations

We allocate our aid where it is most needed – said Paweł Wdówik, Government Plenipotentiary for Disabled People.

He referred to the Act adopted by the Government in Wednesday, which introduces the new support allowance for persons with disabilities. This allowance will amount from 50 to 200 percent of social pension. The Act will enter into force on 1 January 2024.

To be a parent and an employee

During the Easter meeting with the families, the Government Plenipotentiary for Demographic Policy, Barbara Socha, discussed on how the funds from the Family Care Capital provide the opportunity to combine family life with career.

Financial condition and activation

The last year went down in the financial condition of the seniors as the year of record indexation, repeated 13th pension and works on permanent introduction of the 14th pension into the pension scheme.

We allocated more than 70 billion Polish Zlotys on supporting the elderly – said the Secretary of State Stanisław Szwed.

Social economy

We consider social values while amending the law – said the Government Plenipotentiary for Social Economy Anita Czerwińska.

The act on social economy adopted last year enabled classifying the care services in this category.

The Council advices

Dojota Bojemska, Chair of the Family Council at the Ministry of Family and Social Policy, believes that the key values for the families are the relations, making bonds and embedment in the identity. This is why the Council entered into dialogue with the employer’s organisations aimed at development of the employee culture.

Together with families

We want to be both parents and employees – declared the parents at the meeting. Amendments to the Labour Code, such as extending the child care leaves, allocation of part of such leave exclusively to the fathers and improved employment stability benefit the families.
