Eurostat confirms: good end of the year on the labour market in Poland

In December 2024, we again ranked second among the European Union countries with the lowest level of unemployment. According to Eurostat calculations, it amounted to 3 % – the same as the month before. Meanwhile, the EU average is 5.9 %.

The year 2024 ended on a stable and secure note on the labour market in Poland. Calculated according to Eurostat methodology, the unemployment rate was 3 % at the end of the year, the same as in November 2024.

Poland thus ranked second among the EU countries with the lowest unemployment rate. Malta recorded the same result, and only the Czech Republic fared better with an unemployment rate of 2.6 %.

The EU average was in the last December 5.9 % (November 2024: 5.8 %) and in the euro area 6.3 % (November 2024: 6.2 %).

According to Eurostat, 538,000 people were unemployed in December 2024, compared to 541,000 in the previous month.

Statistics Poland has confirmed the Ministry estimates

At the end of 2024, the registered unemployment rate, according to the Statistics Poland, was 5.1 %, 0.1 percentage points higher than in the last November. This confirmed the estimates of the Ministry of Family, Labour and Social Policy based on preliminary data from Labour Offices, which we published at the beginning of January 2025.
