Eurostat: In September this year, unemployment in Poland again at 2.6 percent.

According to Eurostat in September this year, the unemployment rate was 2.6 percent. The same result was recorded a month earlier. – This means that we are again ranked 2nd in the European Union in terms of the lowest level of unemployment – says Marlena Maląg, Minister of Family and Social Policy.

Eurostat: In February, the unemployment rate in Poland was 3%

In September this year, the unemployment rate in the European Union countries was 6 percent, and that in the euro area – 6.6 percent. A decrease by 0.1 percent relative to August was recorded only in the case of EUR countries.

In September this year, the unemployment rate in Poland, calculated according to the Eurostat methodology, was 2.6 percent, i.e. the same as in the previous month and by 0.5 percentage point less than in September 2021. This means that we are once again ranked 2nd in the EU in terms of the lowest unemployment rate – says Marlena Maląg, Minister of Family and Social Policy. 

Top EU countries with the lowest unemployment

The Czech Republic can boast of the lowest unemployment rate in the EU – in September this year, this rate was 2.2 percent and decreased by 0.2 percentage points compared to the previous month. Malta and Germany with the unemployment rate of 3 percent were ranked 3rd.

The highest unemployment was recorded in Spain (12.7%) and Greece (11.8%).

Stable situation on the Polish labour market

According to Statistics Poland, the unemployment rate in September this year amounted to 5.1 percent relative to 5.2 percent in August this year (after and adjustment).

As explained by Minister Marlena Maląg, Statistics Poland makes adjustments to unemployment rates every 10 years, which is related to, among others, an agricultural census. She emphasises, however, that the data for September clearly shows a decline in unemployment.
