Family 500+. From 1 February applications for the new benefit period can be submitted

01.02.2022

2022 has brought important changes to the programme "Family 500+". Since January, the programme is operated by the Social Insurance Institution, taking over from local governments the collection of applications for this child benefit. Moreover, from the new year, applications for 500+ can be submitted only electronically, and the money will go to the parents' bank account.

Family 500+. From 1 February applications for the new benefit period can be submitted

The Social Insurance Institution is already accepting applications for upbringing benefits granted on an ongoing basis (e.g. for newborn children). However, from 1 February 2022 it will accept applications for the new benefit period lasting from 1 June 2022 to 31 May 2023.

Applications submitted before 1 January until their completion will continue to be processed by the existing bodies. Therefore, people who submitted applications last year for the benefit period already in progress (from 1 June 2021 to 31 May 2022) should not apply to the Social Insurance Institution for its re-allocation for this period.

Applications for 500+ only by electronic means

In order to be entitled to the "Family 500+" benefit in the new period, starting from 1 June 2022, an application should be submitted from 1 February this year. From this year the applications can be submitted only electronically through one of the three application channels: via PUE ZUS platform, Emp@tia portal at empatia.mpips.gov.pl or via e-banking.

In fact, already in previous years, the vast majority of parents applied online. This is a much faster and more convenient solution. We have met parents' expectations. From 1 January this year, applications for benefits can only be submitted electronically. Anyone who will have a problem with submitting the application can turn to ZUS for help - says the Minister of Family and Social Policy Marlena Maląg.

Those who submit their application by 30 April this year will receive the first benefit payment by 30 June 2022. In the case of applications submitted after this date, determination of the right to the payment of 500 + benefit will take place within a maximum period of 3 months.

Processing of the application for granting the child benefit by the Social Insurance Institution (ZUS) is done electronically. Information on granting the 500+ benefit will be in the inbox on the PUE ZUS profile - also when the application has been submitted via the Emp@tia portal or electronic banking. An upbringing benefit granted by ZUS does not require an administrative decision.

Payment of the 500+ benefit will be made only in a non-cash form, to a bank account indicated by the applicant.
