Family is an investment for the future

15.05.2023

Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki and Minister Marlena Maląg attended the conference „Women have a choice”. The event was held on the occasion of the International Day of Families. The Day is an opportunity to reflect on the role of families in social life.

Family is an investment for the future

From the beginning, the family has been the most important thing for our government. It is a change in the philosophy of thinking. All expenditures for families are an investment in the future – said Minister Maląg at the conference.

Female employment is growing

She reminded that from the very beginning the family had been the most important thing for the Law and Justice government. In the opinion of Minister Maląg, the increased family benefit from the „Family 500 plus” programme will continue to contribute to improving the situation of Polish families. She pointed out that before the introduction of this programme there had been opinions that we could not afford it and the programme itself would result in a decrease in female employment.

The figures show it unequivocally. Female employment is growing. Today, on the International Day of Families, it is worth mentioning it – stressed the Minister.

Real help

Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki, who was present at the conference, declared that it was necessary to focus on real help for women, so that as many programmes as possible concerned helping them in the first years of motherhood and in returning to the labour market. At the beginning of the PiS rule, there were about 80 thousand places in nurseries across Poland, and today it is more than 230 thousand of them. The „Mother 4 plus” programme also is used to appreciate the upbringing work of women.

This is a measure of what we have really done to change the professional opportunities of women – added the Prime Minister.

Various stages

Deputy Minister Barbara Socha reminded that Polish women were exceptional. They were able to manage in the most difficult times, nurture Polish traditions. They are very ambitious, hard-working, with great determination they strive for achieving their goals. However, there are various stages in their lives. There is a moment when we start our professional career, there is a completely different stage when we want to become mothers. There is also a stage of return to the labour market and increased professional activity.
