Foster care. PLN 130 million in support of children during the epidemic

PLN 130 million under the project “Support for Children Placed Under Foster Care during the COVID-19 epidemic” will soon be allocated to local governments. The funds will be allocated, among others, for purchasing computers and the necessary software.

The recipients of the support granted as part of the project implemented by the Ministry of Family, Labour and Social Policy include in particular children placed in foster families and family foster homes, care and educational institutions, regional care and therapeutic institutions, intervention pre-adoptive centres, as well as their carers and the employees of these institutions.

– We are happy that we have managed to obtain measurable aid for foster care during this difficult time of a pandemic - says the Minister of Family, Labour and Social Policy Marlena Maląg.

The funds - a total of PLN 130 million - will be allocated for purchasing computers and software, audio-visual equipment, personal protective equipment and disinfectants. Today, a computer is tool which is commonly used in the education process, as evidenced during the past few months during remote learning. It is important to grant children with access to such equipment.

– We encourage local governments to actively participate in the project and to take the opportunity to support the children in foster care facilities. The Ministry of Labour, Family and Social Policy has partnered with the employees of Voivodes’ for the implementation of the project.
