From dependence to independence – the call for applications has been launched

An open competition of offers for financial support for implementing projects under the “From dependence to independence” Programme is launched. The programme is addressed to local government units and non-governmental organisations involved in activities for persons with mental disorders and their families. Its budget is PLN 3 million.

- We support persons with mental disorders in overcoming the difficult life situation in which they found themselves. The aid also goes to their family and caregivers – says the Minister of Family, Marlena Maląg. And she adds – It is extremely important to strengthen and expand the offer of social support networks in communes and districts, also with the active inclusion of non-governmental organisations.

Three million for subsidies. Applications until 28 January

The budget of the 2022 edition of the “From dependence to independence” programme is PLN 3 million. Applications may be submitted until 28 January to the social policy departments of voivodeships offices.

- The implementation of the Programme should be based on creating social support for persons with mental disorders by all entities operating in the field of social assistance and integration for the initiation of projects aimed at overcoming, by persons with mental disorders, barriers preventing them from participating in social life – adds the Minister of Family.

Four areas of support

Under the programme, four modules have been designated:

Module I – Support for families of persons with mental disorders

The module is aimed at allowing families of persons with mental disorders to access various services resulting from their needs, e.g. periodic replacement in performing parent functions, initiating self-help groups of parents.

Module II – Self-help

Under this module, innovative projects supporting self-help and, at the same time, performing the function of state’s helpfulness will be particularly promoted. They should be based on scientific achievements and good practices, particularly, in activities aimed at developing self-help for persons with mental disorders and intellectual disabilities and their families.

Module III – Enabling persons with mental disorders to acquire skills necessary for living an independent life

The module is aimed at developing skills that will contribute to obtaining the fullest possible independence in the daily functioning in the case of persons with mental disorders.

Module IV – Integration and innovation

The module is aimed at initiating and implementing new forms of community support for persons with mental disorders, particularly, by organisational units of social welfare services.

Financing for the programme

The project can be co-financed by the Minister of Family and Social Policy in the maximum amount of PLN 100 thousand and not lower than PLN 30 thousand, while the amount of the subsidy may not be higher than 80% of the total amount necessary to implement the project.
