Good start. On 1 July the call for applications for this year's edition of the programme will be launched

On 1 July this year, the call for applications for this year's edition of the "Good start" programme will begin. It is 300 PLN for a school starter kit for each child learning. - This year the applications will be submitted only online. For this purpose we can use e-banking, Empatia portal or PUE ZUS. It is really simple - assures the Minister of Family and Social Policy Marlena Maląg.

Pupils have just said goodbye to the school year, collected their certificates and are enjoying their long-awaited holidays. Parents, however, are slowly beginning to think about September and the associated expenses. A new backpack, pencil case, outfit for physical education classes, sports shoes - it's a big burden on the household budget.

- The 'Good Start' programme was established to ease the burden on families at this time, to equalise children's educational opportunities, regardless of where they were born. What is important, from the very beginning the benefit was granted without income criterion. It is an investment in the future of the next generation - points out the Minister of Family and Social Policy, Marlena Maląg.

You can apply for "Good start" only online

The year 2021 brought changes to the "Good start" programme - now applications for the benefit can only be submitted electronically, and the Social Insurance Institution will handle the entire process.

- The experience of recent years shows that Poles are increasingly willing to use the electronic way of applying for benefits and are doing very well with it. In 2018, the percentage of applications for the "Good start" benefit submitted online was 48 percent, in 2020. - already 72 percent. - indicates Minister Marlena Maląg.

Important dates!

From 1 July this year, an online application, as in previous years, can be submitted:

  • via e-banking
  • Emp@tia portal
  • PUE ZUS

Applications under the "Good start" programme can be submitted until 30 November this year.

Submitting an application by the end of August guarantees the payment of the benefit no later than 30 September. If the application is submitted in subsequent months (September, October or November), the funds will reach the family within 2 months of the application.

For whom is the "Good start" benefit?

"Good start" is PLN 300 for each child in school aged from 7 to 20 years old, and in the case of children with disabilities - up to 24 years old. In 2020, support from the "Good Start" programme covered 4.4 million students. PLN 4.1 billion, around PLN 1.4 billion annually, has already been allocated for benefits under the programme since its inception.
