26.04.2022

The Minister of Family and Social Policy, Marlena Maląg, took part on Tuesday in the ceremonial session of the Labor Protection Council, held in the Sejm of the Republic of Poland. The meeting was also attended by members of the Labor Protection Council and parliamentarians, representatives of the ministries concerned, the National Labor Inspectorate, Social Labor Inspectorate and representatives of social partners.

International Day of Remembrance of Victims of Accidents at Work and Occupational Diseases

The Minister of Family and Social Policy, Marlena Maląg, began her speech by pointing out that this meeting of the Labor Protection Council is extremely important, in the light of the tragedies that occurred in recent days in the Pniówek and Zofiówka mines.

It is our mission, our challenge, our priority for employees to be properly protected and secured. These activities can be well coordinated provided a good dialogue - with the social side, with the employers, with all organizations, representatives of scientific institutions; with the labor inspection, of course, said Minister Marlena Maląg in the Sejm.

Raising awareness

The Minister assured that the Ministry of Family and Social Policy attaches great importance to ensuring the health of working people. Actions taken in Poland to improve working conditions and raise the awareness of Poles in this matter bring tangible results. In many workplaces, actions are taken to reach out to employees and raise their awareness. One example are the programs submitted to the National Competition for the Improvement of Working Conditions, organized by the minister responsible for labor affairs, which demonstrate a real impact on improving the safety of employees.

We remember the victims of accidents at work

Katarzyna Łażewska-Hrycko, Chief Labor Inspector, recalled that the meeting of the Labor Protection Council was organized two days before the International Day of Remembrance of Victims of Work Accidents and Occupational Diseases.

Our thoughts go to the victims of disasters; miners and rescuers who lost their lives performing their difficult service. Especially in the face of the latest tragedy in the Pniówek mine in Pawłowice Śląskie, and in the Zofiówka mine in Jastrzębie-Zdrój. We join families that are going through extremely difficult times. At the same time, we pay tribute to all those who died at work, suffered accidents at work or fell victim to occupational diseases, said Katarzyna Łażewska-Hrycko.

She also stressed that the recent events in the mines should make us realize the importance of the problem of work safety all the more.
