Lower number of the unemployed in labour offices. Preliminary data from the Ministry of Family and Social Policy

At the end of August, the registered unemployment rate amounted to 5.8% – as it results from the estimates of the Ministry of Family and Social Policy. Last month, 961.8 thousand unemployed persons were registered with labour offices. – The situation in the labour market is better than last year – says the Minister of Family and Social Policy, Marlena Maląg.

Lower number of the unemployed in labour offices

When compared to the end of July 2021, the number of persons listed in the registers of labour offices decreased by 13.1 thousand, i.e. by 1.3%.

August was already the sixth month in a row when the level of registered unemployment in Poland was decreasing. This is very good news – says the Minister of Family and Social Policy, Marlena Maląg.

In the same period of the last year, the level of registered unemployment decreased by 1.6 thousand persons, i.e. by 0.2%, which means that the situation in the labour market in 2021 was more favourable than the year before. The unemployment rate at the end of this August was by 66.2 thousand (6.4%) lower than the year before.

The data of the Ministry of Family and Social Policy show that in August the registered unemployment rate amounted to 5.8%, which means that when compared to the previous month it remained unchanged, and when compared to August 2020 it decreased by 0.3 percentage points.

The unemployment rate did not exceed 9% in any voivodeship and ranged from 3.4% in Wielkopolska to 8.7% in the Warmińsko-Mazurskie Voivodeship.

In August 2021, employers reported 113.3 thousand vacancies and places of professional activation to labour offices. This number is by 16.9 thousand (17.5%) higher than in August 2020.

Unemployment according to Eurostat

According to the data published on 1 September, in July the harmonised unemployment rate, calculated according to the definition adopted by Eurostat, amounted to 3.4% in Poland when compared to 6.9% of the EU average and 7.6% in the eurozone. Poland was ranked fourth in terms of the lowest unemployment rate in the European Union.
